The Steamship Virginia V Foundation is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit formed in 1976 and dedicated to the preservation, operation, and interpretation of the Steamship Virginia V.
Operating and maintaining a 102-year-old wooden steamship takes a lot of volunteers, and generous donations from visitors. All proceeds from this cruise will go towards supporting the ship and her operation.
The SS Virginia V is a National Historic Landmark vessel, and is the only operating wooden screw-steam passenger vessel in the United States. (There were once thousands.) She is also the last steamship of the Puget Sound “Mosquito Fleet.” Keeping the ship steaming allows visitors and passengers a unique window into the past.
Virginia V is also an educational venue. Every year, hundreds of school-age children are brought on board to learn about maritime careers and skills, and receive training on what the various jobs on the sea are all about.
Help keep the Virginia V steaming by buying a t-shirt or pin, getting something at the ship’s bar, or buying some tickets for our charity raffle.
